In The Middle

So, while I am in the middle of a mad period of trying to sort various aspects of my life out, I thought i'd take the time to show you some of my recent projects.

ISOLATED

A photoshoot I shot for a university project based on brutalist structure and it's parallels in fashion. I was given a beautiful model from FIRST called Samara who, despite the language barriers (she was Brazilian, and I was the only one in the team who spoke Spanish, which luckily spoke as well as Portugese and Italian), has been the best model I have worked with to date. Her ability to comman the frame and use her body to hold clothes and create a mood was wonderful.

On a particularly cold and miserable day in November, my team and I found ourselves scouring East London for shoot locations and working the quickest we ever have. The photos came out stunning and after many hours of talking, we finally came up with a final selection, there were just too many images to choose from! Here they are!

Hanson of London

After a hectic week, a little package landed in my mailbox this morning and it made me smile from ear to ear. Not long ago I discovered a little handbag maker called Hanson of London, and I have been in love ever since!

Situated in Shoreditch, Hanson of London create the most beautiful, handcrafted leather bags from their studio. One day I hope to get my hands on one of their stunning bags, but until then I will just spend my days lusting over each and every one of them!

Leather Bound

Back at uni, work is full-on and the weather is rubbish. Perfect time for an outfit post? I think so!

Today the rain and cold saw me pull out all the leather I could find in my wardrobe and result a Monday morning moody outfit. TA DA!

Decided to show my man a bit of love with my new vest from H&M, and go for the band girlfriend vibe. Perfect.

NEW LOVE: Minna Parikka

The other day I was made aware of Finnish shoe designer Minna Parikka, and I am very glad she has come into my world. Having shot to fame when Lady Gaga wore her collaboration shoes with Jani Leinonen, Minna is really worth all the hype.

Her collections offer a range of shoe styles, so there is something for everyone; whether you are looking for a statement comfortable flat, or that attention grabbing pair of court shoes to strut your stuff in. The designer likes to play with texture and colour in each pair of shoes, balancing out odd details in classic fabrics, or adding that extra kick with a cut-out drip detail and platform.

As the A/W 12 season is upon us, I thought i'd bring you my top 3 picks from the collection!

The Perfect statement ankle boot, this will instantly add the finishing touch to the plainest of outfits. It comes in a variety of colours that are sure to make your feet look beautiful on any Winter day, whether it is raining, snowing, or maybe even if you get a rare glimpse of sun? To be on trend pick up these in stunning cobalt blue and pair with neutrals for that pop of colour on a dreary day.

One of the many incarnations of the Pfeiffer court shoe, this is my MUST HAVE shoe. It hits so many A/W trends; animal print, ponyskin, mid-heel, funky heel shape. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it has bunny ears!?! Wear them with everything and anything, wherever you can. BUY A PAIR NOW! Case closed.

Every year designers bring out the new black boot. Whether it be over the knee, riding boot style, flatform, thigh high, they all end up being exactly the same. So Minna Parikka brings a breath of fresh air with this beautiful long boot. Adding a platform to the front ensures easy heel walking, and divine leather gives it that all important rain resistance. But, the real finishing touch comes in the suede drip detail at the top of the boot, that puts the designers signature on it. I definitely wouldn't mind a pair of these to run my errands in. Yes, they are that perfect for everyday wear in my opinion.

Finale

It has been 18 days since I last posted on here, and how they days have flown by! After 3 months of hard work this term, the past 2 weeks went by so fast that I didn't seem to breathe. Monday marked the end of my marketing project working Larissa Hadjio, and yesterday marked the end of my graphics module.

Working with Larissa was a great experience and I learned so much about running a marketing consultancy, but it was also very draining, stressful and time-consuming haha. So, here is the final film for Larissa's S/S 12 collection that we collected, and there are also a few promotional stills that we used.

Lack of Life

This lack of posting is completely unacceptable but hugely unavoidable when you're a fashion student. I have been so busy over the last few weeks that I have had barely no time to sleep, let alone write posts. After working for Acne at LFW it was straight back into a million and one things at uni and working at Starbucks. As I type I have 3 projects that are due within the next 2 weeks, so as you imagine everything is a bit crazy! I thought i'd shed further light on one of the projects I am working on so you can see exactly what my course involves.

We are currently undertaking a live marketing project which has got us working with a bag designer called Larissa Hadjio. After weeks of brainstorming and presentations, we are to shoot a film for her S/S 12 collection on Thursday. Once the film has been shot, we will edit down to the final piece, create a lookbook, press release and redsign her website. As much as I am very excited to get on with shooting the film, there is still a lot to do before Thursday and there is no rest involved in this!

The collection we are working with is a very minimal set of bags, based on geometric patterns, diamonds and city architecture. All of the handbags are made from nappa leather and suede and come in a range of neutral colours. Here are a few photohgraphs I took of the collection while we were at the designer's studio and more will come when shoot day comes around. Acne A/W 11

Acne have always been one of my favourite brands as their minamilsm in shape and colour is something that I am deeply attracted to. For the styling project I am working on currently, I am going for a minimal, industrial feel for the photoshoot. This has led me to look at a lot of Acne, Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein as they all channel simple lines and structures in their collections.

Acne's A/W 11 collection is beautifully simple but still full of colour. Dresses come in leather and tulle, maxi skirts come teamed with large cut out fronts and shorts underneath and hemline lengths are played with throughout. Here are a few of my favourites looks from the Women's collection.
