So, now that I have begun my new postion as Junior Fashion Editor at WeAreCollision, I have much more of an excuse and reason to post more, YAY! I have been given to the opportunity to write about such great things, and show my interests to a larger audience than usual Although I have never been the greatest writer, I have definitely found it a liberating experience so far, and am looking forward to covering many more topics and finding people who inspire and wow.

DIY is a trend that I find hard to replicate myself; obviously my print, colour, body coordination isn't right for it, but Fashion156 have proved that there are many designers and people that have it oh so right.

All over the A/W 13 there were designers bursting to show their take on the trend, with badges, patches, embellishment and colours running wild! With times being hard, designers are looking to reflect the times; people are saving money by re-vamping old clothes, making them into new ones or just giving them a little spruce; anything to stay on-trend but in the black.

Louise Gray gave us metallic trays and duct tape bangles

Ashish presented the all-important reflective jacket

James Long's knits were sea-worn and recycled

Dsquared went 90's badge collecting

The Rodarte sisters brought matching applique and tie-dye to the catwalk

YOUTH MAGAZINE IS COMPLETE

After a very long term at university, and a long absence from blogging, I am finally happy to announce that the reason for me being M.I.A is finally complete. YOUTH MAGAZINE HAS BEEN CREATED!

For our first photography/styling group project of the year, we had to create a new magazine for the market. We decided to create a youth fashion supplement for the Independent on Sunday aimed at their 16-25 aged readers, and introduce new readers to newspaper culture.

A few months later, after many shoots, early mornings, very late nights and countless re-designs, the supplement was finished, and I couldn't be happier with the results! I took on the role of Editor, Art Director, and also photographed the fashion stories 'Isolated' and 'Lost and Found'.

I never realised truly how much work goes into the creation of a magazine, and after my time interning and freelancing at ELLE, I really would like to do more art direction and photography work for editorial purposes.

So, without further ado, here is the cover of YOUTH's first issue:

To Round This All Up

My LAST blog post for ELLE magazine has gone up, and I am sad to say that my time at the magazine is now over. Working for ELLE has been the most amazing experience ever, and I really hope to go back to them as soon as I can!

'Edited by the Interns' BBC Radio Surrey Interview

So, as you all know, I was one of the lucky ELLE 'Edited by the Interns' winners. Since the October issue launched, the press we have received has been great! As 3 of the winning interns (myself included) go to UCA Epsom, we have been a few local newspapers, and offered a slot on BBC Radio Surrey's breakfast show. 

Carly and I (Mariella could not make the interview at such short notice) made a rather early trip the station's studio in Guildford on 12 September and prepared our nervous selves for our radio debut. After a few sips of coffee we were invited on the air to talk about our time at ELLE.

We had a rather fun time, laughing and recalling our experience at the magazine, and could have talked for hours once we got going. It was a fantastic piece of exposure, and we are all hoping it will project our talent further around the industry!
